Probate, Wills, Trusts, & Guardianships
While many people may never need the services of a Family Law or Criminal Defense attorney, every adult should give some thought to estate planning and making a will. Reed & Reed attorneys can help with those processes.
Wills help you protect your family, wealth and property after you are gone. They aren’t just for individuals with significant assets. Individuals should have the final say in how their assets, large or small, are divided, rather than the state. That’s where a will comes in. Wills also allow an individual to name guardianship of children.

It’s never too early to draw up a will. Before an individual has passed, wills can be useful by designating power of attorney for financial and healthcare decisions, should the individual be incapacitated. Wills may also include instructions for end of life or life-saving measures for the individual. In many ways, wills help ease the concern and responsibilities of your loved ones who are already dealing with the heavy emotional weight of grief and loss.
The experienced attorneys at Reed & Reed will talk with you to fully understand your objectives, answer your questions and explain your options in preparing your will.
Probate proceedings can be tedious and we are here to guide executors of a will through the probate process or through administration proceedings, when the decedent leaves no will. We also can assist with a Small Estate Affidavit , which is a legal document that allows heirs to collect and transfer assets of a deceased person without going through a formal probate process. Small Estate Affidavits are used when the estate’s value is $75,000 or less, excluding homestead and exempt property.
We can also assist individuals with preparing an application for guardianship of minors or the incapacitated.
